SHAOLIN JAZZ – The 37th Chamber

4.14.2011 | 0 Comments

Today I came across one of the best mixtapes to grace us so far in 2011. What better way to enjoy a beautiful sunny day here in NYC than with the smooth sounds of jazz mixed with a little Wu-Tang? From DJ 2-Tone Jones comes SHAOLIN JAZZ – The 37th Chamber, a mix of old classic jazz with the classic hits from Shaolin’s finest.

The thirteen track tape features classic Wu-Tang vocals, from songs such as “C.R.E.A.M.”, “The Pit”, (Ol’ Dirty Bastard‘s) “Got Your Money”, (Method Man and Redman‘s) “How High” to name but a few, over reworked timeless Jazz pieces, by the the like of Lonnis Liston Smith, Bobbi Humphery, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. Girl Talk shows off his computer to Rolling Stone

4.13.2011 | 0 Comments

DJ Girl Talk takes Rolling Stone Magazine on a tour of his computer. Although we don’t get to see all the porn he has stashed away on it, he does show us how he goes about mixing all that music. Greg Gillis, a.k.a. Girl Talk, explains how he mixes the samples and all the prep work that is involved in getting ready for a show. It’s very interesting to see how complex the actual sampling can get. For those who love Girl Talk, I highly recommend viewing this video.
